Cat's Claw Alcohol-Free Liquid Extract — Uncaria tomentosa Dried Inner Bark Glycerite
Cat's claw (Uncaria tomentosa) is a woody climbing vine of the Rubiaceae family, native to the Amazon rainforest of Peru, Brazil, Ecuador and Colombia. It climbs thirty metres or more into the canopy, gripping by pairs of curved thorns at the leaf bases that resemble a cat's claws and give the plant its name. It has large opposite ovate leaves and rounded heads of small yellowish-white flowers. The part used is the inner bark of the vine, separated and dried. Dried cat's claw inner bark is reddish-brown and fibrous, with a faint woody scent and a bitter, astringent taste.
The raw material is ethically wild harvested. Extraction is by classical maceration at the lowest practical temperature, in a base of vegetable glycerin and purified artesian water — glycerin and water are the only solvents. The product contains no alcohol, no added sugar, no preservatives and no artificial colours. Its mildly sweet taste comes from the vegetable glycerin itself.
Every incoming batch is tested in our own laboratory to confirm botanical identity and consistency, using HPTLC fingerprinting and FTIR spectral analysis, alongside microbiological screening, viscosity and refractometric measurement. Quality control is guided by USP, Ph. Eur., ISO 17025 and cGLP standards, and a certificate of analysis is available for every batch. Produced at an FDA-registered facility in Honolulu, Hawaii, and shipped from our EU warehouse.
