Arrow Root Alcohol-Free Liquid Extract — Maranta arundinacea Dried Root Glycerite
Arrowroot (Maranta arundinacea) is a perennial herb of the Marantaceae family, native to the tropical lowlands of northern South America and the Caribbean and widely grown in the West Indies. It reaches about a metre, with broad ovate leaves on long sheathing stalks and small paired white flowers. The part used is the fleshy creeping rhizome, dug about a year after planting, washed, sliced and dried. Dried arrowroot rhizome is pale cream and hard, becoming a fine white powder when ground, with no appreciable scent and a bland, faintly sweet starchy taste.
The raw material is ethically wild harvested. Extraction is by classical maceration at the lowest practical temperature, in a base of vegetable glycerin and purified artesian water — glycerin and water are the only solvents. The product contains no alcohol, no added sugar, no preservatives and no artificial colours. Its mildly sweet taste comes from the vegetable glycerin itself.
Every incoming batch is tested in our own laboratory to confirm botanical identity and consistency, using HPTLC fingerprinting and FTIR spectral analysis, alongside microbiological screening, viscosity and refractometric measurement. Quality control is guided by USP, Ph. Eur., ISO 17025 and cGLP standards, and a certificate of analysis is available for every batch. Produced at an FDA-registered facility in Honolulu, Hawaii, and shipped from our EU warehouse.
