Guggul Alcohol-Free Liquid Extract — Commiphora mukul Dried Oleo-Gum Resin Glycerite
Guggul (Commiphora mukul, also placed as C. wightii) is a small thorny tree of the Burseraceae family, native to the arid scrub of Rajasthan and Gujarat in India, and of Pakistan and the Arabian Peninsula. It grows three to four metres, with peeling papery grey bark, sparse trifoliate leaves and spiny branches. When the bark is incised, it exudes a pale gum-resin that hardens on the tree. The resin is collected in the dry season and dried. Dried guggul resin is brownish-yellow, brittle and translucent in fragments, with a warm balsamic aroma and a bitter, acrid taste.
The raw material is ethically wild harvested, or grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers. Extraction is by classical maceration at the lowest practical temperature, in a base of vegetable glycerin and purified artesian water — glycerin and water are the only solvents. The product contains no alcohol, no added sugar, no preservatives and no artificial colours. Its mildly sweet taste comes from the vegetable glycerin itself.
Every incoming batch is tested in our own laboratory to confirm botanical identity and consistency, using HPTLC fingerprinting and FTIR spectral analysis, alongside microbiological screening, viscosity and refractometric measurement. Quality control is guided by USP, Ph. Eur., ISO 17025 and cGLP standards, and a certificate of analysis is available for every batch. Produced at an FDA-registered facility in Honolulu, Hawaii, and shipped from our EU warehouse.
