Hops Alcohol-Free Liquid Extract — Humulus lupulus Dried Flower Glycerite
Hops (Humulus lupulus) is a perennial climbing vine of the Cannabaceae family, native to Europe, western Asia and North America. The rough bristly stems, or bines, twine clockwise and can grow more than six metres in a season before dying back to a hardy rootstock. Plants are separately male and female; the part used comes from female plants, which bear papery cone-like catkins called strobiles. These are picked in late summer and dried at low temperature. Dried hop cones are pale yellow-green and light, with a resinous, spicy aroma and a markedly bitter taste.
The raw material is ethically wild harvested, or grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers. Extraction is by classical maceration at the lowest practical temperature, in a base of vegetable glycerin and purified artesian water — glycerin and water are the only solvents. The product contains no alcohol, no added sugar, no preservatives and no artificial colours. Its mildly sweet taste comes from the vegetable glycerin itself.
Every incoming batch is tested in our own laboratory to confirm botanical identity and consistency, using HPTLC fingerprinting and FTIR spectral analysis, alongside microbiological screening, viscosity and refractometric measurement. Quality control is guided by USP, Ph. Eur., ISO 17025 and cGLP standards, and a certificate of analysis is available for every batch. Produced at an FDA-registered facility in Honolulu, Hawaii, and shipped from our EU warehouse.

- A glycerite is a liquid plant extract prepared with vegetable glycerin and water instead of alcohol. The plant material is macerated in the glycerin–water base, then pressed and filtered.

- A tincture uses alcohol as the solvent. This product is alcohol-free: the only solvents are vegetable glycerin and purified water.
