Cranesbill Alcohol-Free Liquid Extract — Geranium maculatum Dried Root Glycerite
Cranesbill (Geranium maculatum), also called spotted geranium, is a perennial of the Geraniaceae family, native to the open woodlands and meadows of eastern North America. It grows thirty to sixty centimetres, with deeply five-lobed toothed leaves that are often mottled in older plants and loose clusters of five-petalled pink to lavender flowers in spring. The fruit is a long beaked capsule that gives the genus its name. The part used is the thick knotty rhizome, dug in autumn and dried. Dried cranesbill root is dark brown and hard, with little scent and a strongly astringent, tannic taste.
The raw material is ethically wild harvested. Extraction is by classical maceration at the lowest practical temperature, in a base of vegetable glycerin and purified artesian water — glycerin and water are the only solvents. The product contains no alcohol, no added sugar, no preservatives and no artificial colours. Its mildly sweet taste comes from the vegetable glycerin itself.
Every incoming batch is tested in our own laboratory to confirm botanical identity and consistency, using HPTLC fingerprinting and FTIR spectral analysis, alongside microbiological screening, viscosity and refractometric measurement. Quality control is guided by USP, Ph. Eur., ISO 17025 and cGLP standards, and a certificate of analysis is available for every batch. Produced at an FDA-registered facility in Honolulu, Hawaii, and shipped from our EU warehouse.
