Bromelain Alcohol-Free Liquid Extract — Ananas comosus Fruit And Stem Extract Glycerite
Bromelain is prepared from the pineapple plant (Ananas comosus), a terrestrial bromeliad of the Bromeliaceae family, native to southern Brazil and Paraguay and now grown throughout the tropics. The plant forms a rosette of stiff sword-shaped leaves, often spiny-edged, up to a metre and a half across, from which a single flowering stem rises. The many small purple flowers fuse together with the axis to form a single compound fruit. The extract is prepared from the fruit and the fibrous central stem. The dried material is a pale cream powder with a faint sweet-fruity scent and a bland taste.
The raw material is ethically wild harvested. Extraction is by classical maceration at the lowest practical temperature, in a base of vegetable glycerin and purified artesian water — glycerin and water are the only solvents. The product contains no alcohol, no added sugar, no preservatives and no artificial colours. Its mildly sweet taste comes from the vegetable glycerin itself.
Every incoming batch is tested in our own laboratory to confirm botanical identity and consistency, using HPTLC fingerprinting and FTIR spectral analysis, alongside microbiological screening, viscosity and refractometric measurement. Quality control is guided by USP, Ph. Eur., ISO 17025 and cGLP standards, and a certificate of analysis is available for every batch. Produced at an FDA-registered facility in Honolulu, Hawaii, and shipped from our EU warehouse.
